Vitreq has developed two silicone oils for vitreoretinal surgery, Sil-Vit 1.000 and Sil-Vit 5.000 for use as an endo-tamponade to re-attach detached retina to the underlying choroid.

Sil-Vit 1.000

Specifications:

  • Viscosity: 1.000 – 1.500 mPas (centistokes).
  • Refractive index: 1.40.
  • Specific gravity: 0.97 G/cm3.
  • Surface tension: 21 mn/m versus air and 40 mn/m versus water.

Surgical benefits:

  • Low viscosity, easy and quick to inject and to remove.


Sil-Vit 5.000

Specifications:

  • Viscosity: 5.000 – 5.900 mPas (centistokes).
  • Refractive index: 1.40.
  • Specific gravity: 0.97 G/cm3.
  • Surface tension: 21 mn/m versus air and 40 mn/m versus water.

Surgical benefits:

  • 5.000 Centistokes for high viscosity endo-tamponade.
